Among the students, whose judgments were generally more lenient than their parents', sex differences were virtually nonexistent. A study compared eighth-grade children who lived with their fathers to those who lived with their mothers to examine the effects of parent custody on academic achievement. Predictor variables used were socioeconomic status, race, sex of child and parent, residence, and student perception of parent interest in school. Results are discussed. (DF)

Sex differences were examined in a longitudinal sample of 193 parent-infant pairs. Sex differences were absent in measures of environment and parent-child interaction but present in parent prediction of children's later intellectual and linguistic skills.
