Explored effects of parental support on adolescents' life satisfaction in sample of 640 adolescents ages 12 to 16. Three facets of parental support were identified and their effects on child satisfaction were examined. Intrinsic support was strongest predictor of life satisfaction. Children born to mothers who used illicit drugs during pregnancy were assessed for subsequent abuse or neglect. Of the 513 children exposed inutero to drugs, 102 were substantiated as abused or neglected.
