Patterns of relationships between 96 adolescents' cognitive and verbal domains suggest a three-level cognitive complexity continuum: Level 1, a creative, analytic, flexible, differentiating mode; Level 2, a person-oriented, moderately complex functioning level; and Level 3, an inflexible, concrete, simplistic mode of operation. Dominance and sociability scores on the Interpersonal Check List were obtained for medical and nursing students. Results indicate a discrepancy between concepts of self and ideal self, as well as considerable disagreement between medical and nursing students about their roles on the physician-nurse team. (EVH)

Primary reading textbooks used in Israel were examined for sexual stereotyping. It was determined that male and female descriptions in the textbooks differ from true life situations. High correlations were also found between particular personality traits and sex in the books, which do not also exist in reality. (Author/MV)

The impact of internal-external locus of control on explanatory constructs used to interpret personal and societal goals and events was studied. Younger (N=48) and older (N=48) males participated in a vocabulary task involving varying degrees of risk under neutral, supportive, and challenging instructions. Results indicated older adults were more cautious, selected tasks with higher probabilities of success, and were less likely to raise their level of aspiration following success. (Author)
