The responses of 20 learning disabled (LD) and 20 normal children (9 to 11 years old) to a social inference task were compared. The LD children showed deficits in interpretation of the situation and determining consequences. No differences were found between groups in determining antecedents. (Author)

Results indicate that the Mathematics Anxiety Rating Scale and the Math Anxiety Scale measure similar components of mathematics-anxiety domain. Mathematics-anxiety scales and Fennema-Sherman scales of Confidence and Effectance Motivation measure similar affective domains and are approximately equal predictors of arithmetic performance. When 48 first-, fourth-, and seventh-grade boys (classified as high, moderate, or low on an expectancy of success measure) were given a repetition choice task, a developmental trend in number of children choosing the interrupted task was found. When the task's difficulty level was matched to the child's grade, the trend was not found. (Author/JH)
