Kieffer, Kevin M. – 1998
Factor analysis has been characterized as being at the heart of the score validation process. In virtually all applications of exploratory factor analysis, factors are rotated to better meet L. Thurstone's simple structure criteria. Two major rotation strategies are available: orthogonal and oblique. This paper reviews the numerous rotation…

Coolidge, Frederick L. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1976
The present study compared diagnostic classification of the standard and an abbreviated form of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale using brain-damaged and psychiatric patients as subjects. Multivariate analysis of the results revealed a fair degree of similarity between the two forms of WAIS. (SE)

Hinkle, Dennis E.; Sporakowski, Michael J. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1975
The Knox-Sporakowski Attitudes Towards Love scale was subjected to factor analysis. Principal component analysis indicated unidimensionality of the scale. Additional analyses suggested the possibility of three subscales. Labels for the subscales were assigned. Suggestions for further research with the scale were made. (Author)

Nesselroade, John B.; Bates, Paul B. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1975
Seeks empirical evidence of convergence of concepts measured by two personality inventories--Cattell's High School Personality Questionnaire and Jackson's Personality Research Form. Implication of the levels of factor convergence obtained in relation to theory building and prediction are discussed. (RC)

Orlinsky, David E.; And Others – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1975
Two previous reports have specified the empirical structure of patients' and therapists' experiences in psychotherapeutic sessions. The present report explores the structure of experience within the therapeutic dyad--conjoint experience. (Author/RC)

Rohrbaugh, Michael; Bartels, Bryan D. – Small Group Behavior, 1975
Yalom's Q-sort questionnaire was administered to 13 groups and then item analized. Factor analysis identified seven major "curative" factors. Analysis of variance and correlation techniques showed that part of the variation in curative factor perception is related to characteristics of groups and/or their participants. (SE)

Toussaint, N. A. – Child Development, 1974
A set of tasks theoretically presumed to require equivalent logical competence (multiplication of classes, multiplication of relations, seriation, and transitivity) was administered to 64 first and second graders. Response measures emphasizing the operative and figurative aspects were compared within each task. (Author/SDH)

Boudreaux, Ronald F.; Dreger, Ralph M. – Journal of Personality Assessment, 1974
Examined the content factors of the GPPT using factor analytic procedures based on item intercorrelations, in contrast to the published version's use of part scores from a prior groupings of items. In terms of what it proposes to measure, it was concluded that the GPPT has very limited utility. (Author/RC)

Kaufman, Alan S.; Dicuio, Robert F. – Journal of School Psychology, 1975
Factor analyses of the McCarthy Scales were performed on separate groups of black and white children to assess the comparability of the underlying structures and to evaluate the construct validity of the MSCA for each racial group. There was evidence of the instrument's construct validity for each racial group. (Author)

Thorne, Frederick C.; Pishkin, Vladimir – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1975
This paper reports the results of a factor analysis of the Life Style Analysis, a 200-item questionnaire that consists of 100 items designed to measure Murray's need systems in relation to Adlerian life styles. (Author)

Borrello, Gloria M.; Thompson, Bruce – 1989
The calculation of second-order results in the validity assessment of measures and some useful interpretation aids are presented. First-order and second-order results give different and informative pictures of data dynamics. Several aspects of good practice in interpretation of second-order results are presented using data from 487 subjects…

Benton, Roberta L. – 1990
Basic principles underlying statistical power are examined; and issues pertaining to effect size, sample size, error variance, and significance level are highlighted via the use of specific hypothetical examples. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and related methods remain popular, although other procedures sometimes have more statistical power against…

Linacre, John M. – 1990
Determination of the intentions of the test developer is fundamental to the choice of the analytical model for a rating scale. For confirmatory analysis, the developer's intentions inform the choice of the general form of the model, representing the manner in which the respondent interacts with the scale; these intentions also inform the choice of…
