Sorce, James F.; And Others – Developmental Psychology, 1985
In the four studies reported, facial expressions of emotion are considered to be not merely responses indicative of internal states; they are also stimulus patterns that regulate the behavior of others. Results indicated that one-year-old infants seek out and use maternal facial expressions to monitor behavior. (Author/DST)

Caetano, Raul – Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Sciences, 1984
Interviews with 634 Hispanics living in California's San Francisco Bay Area provided data on their drinking patterns by sex, age, income, education, marital status, occupation, and religion. Results confirmed previous findings that indicate that Hispanics have a higher rate of heavy drinking and alcohol problems than other ethnic groups. (NQA)

A national survey of 6115 college students indicated that 81.9 percent were drinking at least once a year and 20.2 perent were heavy drinkers. Results are presented for demographic and drinking characteristics, and comparisons with a similar 1974 study are given. (Author/BL)

This paper uses longitudinal data and multiple regression of follow-up data to identify direction of causality among adolescent alcohol use, normative structure toward alcohol, and peer alcohol use.
