Test results are then contrasted with actual job performance according to specific criteria and supervisors' evaluations. Discussed the predictive index developed from the Barclay Classroom Climate Inventory which aids in identifying both gifted children and those in need of remedial help. Age-scaled information and vocabulary scores of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale and self-ratings of intelligence on a six-point scale were correlated for 190 predominately Caucasian undergraduates. The McCarthy Scales of Children's Abilities (MSCA) appears to be an effective predictor of school achievement for 31 English-speaking second-grade Mexican-American children. High Pearson product-moment correlations were obtained between MSCA and the Comprehensive Tests of Basic Skills. (Author/PN)

A three-year study compared entry-level and junior-level clinically oriented reading and writing skills of 231 medical students. Entry-level skills were found to be the best predictors of clinical skills. Inclusion of communication skills training in admission criteria and/or medical curriculum are recommended. (Author/MSE)

Results indicate that the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Revised) is a valid predictor of achievement for children referred for learning disabilities. The verbal Scale IQ, and the Freedom from Distractibility IQ proved especially useful predictors of academic achievement. (JAC)
