Uncorking Adult Learning: Insights from a Wine and Chocolate Pairing Class
Adult Learning, v37 n1 p63-66 2026
A deep connection with wine led the author to explore an embodied learning experience, where knowledge is gained in real time through the body's sensory receptors, emphasizing direct participation and engaging all the senses, rather than merely reflecting on the experience afterward. The author enrolled in a two-hour wine and chocolate pairing class at a local wine shop, and my experience transcended traditional education, offering profound insights into adult learning. This reflection explores how the visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile, and kinesthetic elements of this embodied learning experience relate to and offer implications for adult education.
