Peer reviewedMorine-Dershimer, Greta – Educational Research Quarterly, 1978
Teachers' predictions of pupil success in elementary school were compared to pupil performance in terms of quartile placement on national test norms. Results indicated that teachers were able to predict reading achievement but had less predictive ability in other areas. (JKS)
Descriptors: Academic Achievement, Achievement Tests, Elementary Education, Elementary School Teachers
Peer reviewedFreedman, Sarah Warshauer – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1979
Essays were rewritten to be stronger or weaker in content, organization, sentence structure, and mechanics. Twelve evaluators first used a four-point holistic rating scale and then rated whether each of the four categories was strong or weak. Analyses of variance revealed content and organization affected ratings most. (Author/RD)
