The coworker approach as it has been applied to a graduate field education unit is described. This approach was initiated as a treatment aid in meeting the needs of large multiproblem families and groups as well as serving as a form of observed interview for beginning graduate students. The team concept, in increased professionalism of admissions staffs, is the key to successful market positioning. Results show admission staffs increased recruitment efforts by 50 percent, decreased the budget by 10 percent, and, for the past two years, have exceeded new student goals. (Author)

Job satisfaction and involvement relate to a need for achievement and dominance, but not to the need for autonomy. Employees with achievement needs succeed in a Scanlon Plan environment. Participative management also appeals to those with dominance needs. (JAC)
