Three strategies for controlling concentration during academic tasks were evaluated: (1) self-initiated relaxation; (2) self-coaching; and (3) a combination of the first two types. Surveyed 542 undergraduates concerning their caffeine consumption. Found that subjects consumed less caffeine than average caffeine-drinking population. Coffee was main beverage used. Scores of 132 accounting, secretarial, and data processing students on the Study Habits Inventory revealed numerous study skill strengths and few weaknesses and significant differences between upper and lower quartile students.
