A model is proposed for analysis of the patterns of language usage among lawyers. The model accommodates any sample of legal language from any type of legal document and can be applied to lexical and syntactic elements as well as whole documents. One example of legal language is illustrated. (MSE)

The bicultural and bilingual family patterns and language acquisition patterns of 24 upper middle class children of foreign-born Chinese parents are outlined. Findings suggest two bilingual development patterns, one for children born in Canada or immigrating before school age, and the other for those immigrating during school years. (MSE)

Native users of American Sign Language manipulated sentences in four ways: sign them at slow rate, parse them, make relatedness judgments of pairs of signs taken from each sentence, and recall the sentences.
