Discusses research conducted to validate six new or completely revised tests in the Ohio vocational achievement testing program. Results showed a high degree of internal consistency at the total test level and at the subtest level as well. (CT)

The results of this study indicate that there were significant differences in the social behaviors of field dependent and independent students in a personalized system of instruction course. Since students did not differ in achievement, this suggests that social behavior may be one way students adapt to various instructional settings. (SK)

The accuracy of manual and academic variables in predicting preclinical operative technique was evaluated. Correlations were low, but significant using the Perceptual Motor Ability Test (PMAT) of the Dental Admission Test. Students with low or average two-dimension scores on the PMAT benefited from an alternate teaching method. (JSR)

Reports a study wherein a foreign language aptitude test was used to group German students beginning English language instruction in three types of German intermediate schools. The utility of personality measures as predictors of voluntary withdrawal from college was investigated. Four criterion groups were formed: high-achieving persisters and withdrawals, and low-achieving persisters and withdrawals. Two significant discriminant functions were found and interpreted as academic aptitude and social immaturity. (Author/GK)
