Humes, Ann – 1980
The discrepancy in the application of terminology in labeling systems for scoring writing samples is discussed in this paper and current scoring systems that exclude frequency counts of writing features are described. Two-thirds of the paper discusses and gives examples of general impression, marking, analytic scale scoring, and primary trait…

Marco, Gary L. – 1975
A method of interpolation has been derived that should be superior to linear interpolation in computing the percentile ranks of test scores for unimodal score distributions. The superiority of the logistic interpolation over the linear interpolation is most noticeable for distributions consisting of only a small number of score intervals (say…

Alvir, Howard P. – 1976
Three evaluation packets which can serve as guidelines for evaluation models are illustrated in this document. These packages were designed originally for occupational educators, but editing can make these packets and evaluation forms applicable to any area in which secondary and post-secondary teachers attend an inservice workshop or training…

Klaas, Alan C. – 1975
Current usage and theory of standard error of measurement calls for one standard error of measurement figure to be used across all levels of scoring. The study revealed that scoring variance across scoring levels is not constant. As scoring ability increases scoring variance decreases. The assertion that low and high scoring subjects will…

Greenberger, Ellen; Kervin, John – 1968
This manual describes the scoring procedures for the Greenberger-Entwisle Need-Achievement Pictures. This instrument was developed (1) to provide a set of pictures suitable for a wide age range of subjects, (2) to increase the comparability of findings, and (3) to increase the reliability of measurement. General instructions for scoring the…

Hartnett, Rodney T. – 1971
Both the Institutional Functioning Inventory (IFI) and the College and University Scales (CUES) are self-study and evaluation instruments. Because the IFI is concerned primarily with dimensions of interest to faculty, while CUES reflects aspects of campus life more important to students, these two measures are frequently used together to obtain a…

Arneklev, Bruce; And Others – 1976
One of the most important contentions of the Rasch model of item analysis is that two tests of the same trait, having some items in common, can be linked together using a "linking constant" derived from the common items. This would be accomplished by administering both tests to a sample of testees, calibrating the items of the tests…

Scheer, John K.; Ansorge, Charles, Jr. – Research Quarterly, 1975
The results of this study revealed that a gymnast performing the same routine is at a significant advantage if he is judged as the fourth competitor for his team rather than the first competitor and that regional differences existed among the scores awarded by gymnastics judges. (RC)

Napier, John D. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
Two experiments were conducted to assess the ability of preservice teachers to score moral thought statements using Kohlberg's theory of moral development. Results indicate that teachers, in general, are not able to rate the statements with consistency. (JKS)

Reynolds, Cecil R. – Psychology in the Schools, 1978
Thirty-two potentially significant clinical signs that may appear on children's Kinetic Family Drawings are presented in the form of an interpretive guide. Cautions and benefits of using such a guide are discussed briefly. (Author)

Friel, S.; Johnstone, A. H. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1978
Compares four different scoring systems in a study of 103 subjects answering a 20 item multiple choice test. Three of the four systems uses a weighted response technique, giving credit for partial knowledge. This seemed to have a significant effect on final grades and gave a more accurate grade representation. (MA)

Rippey, Robert M.; Donato, Joy – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
Confidence scored tests allow subjects to respond to the options on a multiple choice test by assigning probabilities to each of the item options. This paper describes an interactive FORTRAN computer program used for administering, scoring, and interpreting the results of confidence scored tests. (Author/JKS)

Judges (N=10) scored items from the Comprehension, Similarities, and Vocabulary subtests of the WISC-R. Five were inexperienced undergraduates and five were experienced Phds. Overall, there were no appreciable differences in the percentages of agreement between the two groups. (Author)

Aamodt, Michael G.; Pierce, Walter L., Jr. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
Data from five separate samples were weighted using the vertical percent method (England) and the rare response method (Telenson, Alexander, and Barrett) to investigate their relative effectiveness for scoring biographical information blanks. Vertical percent scoring yielded significant validity coefficients for all samples, while rare response…
