Stiles, William B. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1980
Two independent dimensions emerged as underlying participants' ratings of psychotherapy sessions, a depth/value dimension, and a smoothness/ease dimension. Clients and therapists showed moderately high agreement in how they described sessions on these two dimensions, indicating that both reacted in part to objectively observable features of the…

Hofmann, Richard J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
The Guttman scale is discussed from the viewpoint of errors in response patterns. The errors are assumed to be distributed as a binomial. A double-barreled significance test is suggested having two probabilities: high probability and low probability. (Author)

Hargreaves, David H. – New Universities Quarterly, 1979
Fundamental problems within the field of educational psychology include: changes in traditional psychological concepts of intelligence and psychometrics, conflicts in the type of research undertaken, quality of instruction, an overall tendency toward a lack of confidence among educational psychologists, and a narrow perception of their field. Wildman, Robert W.; L'Abate, Luciano – Psychology in the Schools, 1979
Reviews status of intellectual assessment. The AVOM Test is a potentially useful device. It measures performance in two input channels, auditory and visual, and two output channels, oral and manual. AVOM was administered to elementary school students. Scores increased with age, and other results support potential utility of the device. (Author)

Martin, Pamela Davis; Brantley, Philip J.; McKnight, G. Tipton; Jones, Glenn N.; Springer, Annette – Assessment, 1997
The development and preliminary reliability and validity studies are reported for the Multidisciplinary Hemodialysis Patient Satisfaction Scale, a 110-item Likert scale that assesses satisfaction with team health care services. The methods used to construct subscales may have implications for other psychometric studies of satisfaction and quality…

Tepper, Kelly; Hoyle, Rick H. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1996
Confirmatory factor analysis evaluated three a priori latent variable models of responses to the Need for Uniqueness Scale completed by 552 undergraduates. An oblique three-factor model best accounted for item commonality. Additional analysis suggests a model with loadings on four modestly correlated factors to explain the scale's latent…

Thompson, Bruce; Daniel, Larry G. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1996
Editorial board members of "Educational and Psychological Measurement" were asked to list up to five publications each, written since roughly 1950, that they thought were seminal to shaping the measurement field. This bibliography lists 59 of their selections as a "hit parade" of measurement readings. (SLD)

Mezzich, Ada C.; Tarter, Ralph E.; Giancola, Peter R.; Kirisci, Levent – Journal of Child and Adolescent Substance Abuse, 2001
Evidence indicates that psychological dysregulation is an integral component of the liability for substance use disorder (SUD). This report discusses the rationale underlying the Dysregulation Inventory (DI), methods employed in item selection and scale construction, and preliminary results regarding psychometric properties. Results indicate that…

Moffitt, Terrie E.; And Others – Psychological Assessment, 1997
Whether partners provide congruent reports about abuse in their relationship was studied with 360 couples. Findings suggest that reports of abuse can be aggregated to form internally consistent scales that show strong interpartner agreement, and that either abuser or victim reports are suitable for research use. Kacmar, K. Michele; Valle, Matthew – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
The dimensionality of the Measure of Ingratiatory Behaviors in Organizational Settings (MIBOS) (K. Kumar and M. Beyerlein, 1991) was studied with data from 203 state government employees. Results do not confirm the factor solution proposed by the measure's creators. Suggestions are offered to improve the psychometric properties of the MIBOS scale.…

Cecil, Heather; Stanley, Melinda A. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
The psychometric properties of the Body Esteem Scale (BES) were studied with 255 girls and boys in grades 5 through 12. Internal consistency was found for the gender-specific subscales. Results provide preliminary evidence that the BES may be a psychometrically defensible assessment of body esteem among adolescents. (SLD)

Glas, Cees A. W. – International Journal of Testing, 2002
"Test Scoring" provides insight into psychometric procedures as used by a professional testing company or in large-scale projects. The book contains an overview of standard test theory, a discussion of factor analytic theory, and an exploration of special applications and problems. (SLD)

O'Hare, Thomas – Journal of Primary Prevention, 2001
In the current study of 361 sexually active undergraduates cited for their first time for university substance abuse violations, confirmatory factor analysis was employed to validate the Risky Sex Scale. A three factor solution appears to fit the data significantly, and three subscales demonstrate good to excellent reliability and vary…

Bachman, Lyle F. – Annual Review of Applied Linguistics, 1989
Applied linguistics and psychometrics have influenced language testing, providing additional tools for investigating factors affecting language test performance and assuring measurement reliability. An examination is presented of language testing, including the theoretical issues involved, the methodological advances, language test development,…

Alliger, George M.; Williams, Kevin J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1989
The interrelationships among halo and leniency rating errors were examined using simulated rating data. As leniency increased, halo decreased when measured by dimension intercorrelations but increased when measured by standard deviations across dimensions. Implications of these results for the use of the various measures are discussed. (SLD)
