Peer reviewedDevine, Joseph E.; Toom, Paul M. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1975
Descriptors: Biochemistry, Chemistry, College Science, Higher Education
Peer reviewedAustralian Mathematics Teacher, 1975
The experimental use of interactive computer systems in a secondary school and the evaluation of this program are described. (SD)
Descriptors: Computer Oriented Programs, Computers, Educational Experiments, Evaluation
Peer reviewedDeal, Walter J. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1975
Describes a series of experiments designed to verify the various relationships implicit in the ideal gas equation and shows that the success of the Graham's law effusion experiments can be explained by elementary hydrodynamics. (GS)
Descriptors: Chemistry, College Science, Higher Education, Instructional Materials
Peer reviewedProvost, J. P. – American Journal of Physics, 1975
Presents a mathematical demonstration that the least action principle enables both the trajectories and the conservation laws (of energy, momentum, and angular momentum) to be obtained without using Lagrange's equations. Discusses an experimental procedure which utilizes air tables to demonstrate the conservation laws and interactions at a…
Descriptors: College Science, Higher Education, Instructional Materials, Mechanics (Physics)
Peer reviewedLandegren, G. F. – American Journal of Physics, 1975
Describes a device which employs two diffraction gratings and three or four simple lenses to produce arbitrary absorption or emission spectra that may be doppler shifted and spectroscopically examined by students some distance away. It may be regarded as a sort of artificial star whose spectrum may be analyzed as an undergraduate laboratory…
Descriptors: Astronomy, College Science, Educational Media, Higher Education
Peer reviewedThroop, Robert K. – Catalyst for Change, 1975
Describes the Small Grants Award program developed by the North Country School Study Council and the Central New York School Study Council to help finance innovative projects proposed by teachers. (JG)
Descriptors: Change Strategies, Educational Experiments, Educational Innovation, Elementary Secondary Education
Peer reviewedKornhaber, Robert E.; Schroeder, Harold E. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1975
Studies the effectiveness of therapeutic modeling using dissimilar or similar models. Pre- and post-measures of fear were taken on behavioral and attitude dimensions. Behaviorally, model similarity in level of fear was unimportant, while similarity in age was. More similar models on either variable produced greater change in attitudes. (Author/SJL)
Descriptors: Attitude Change, Behavior Change, Children, Conditioning
Peer reviewedCichowski, Robert S. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1975
Descriptors: Chemistry, College Science, Glass, Higher Education
Peer reviewedDawes, John A. – School Science Review, 1975
Describes three experiments which investigated the behavior of "Colisa fasciata" males in full breeding condition subjected to competition for nest sites and a single female. Concludes that for these fish territorial dominance is established in a relatively short time, the period varying with the intensity of competition. (MLH)
Descriptors: Animal Behavior, Biological Sciences, Biology, Fishes
Peer reviewedJones, Gareth – School Science Review, 1975
Descriptors: Biochemistry, Chemical Analysis, Chemistry, Chromatography
Peer reviewedPugh, M. R. – School Science Review, 1974
Descriptors: Biology, Laboratory Experiments, Photochemical Reactions, Photosynthesis
Peer reviewedAtkinson, D. S.; And Others – School Science Review, 1974
Describes an experiment in which the rate of reaction can be followed using a colorimeter and data can be used to determine order of reaction, rate constant, and energy of activation. (GS)
Descriptors: Chemical Reactions, Chemistry, Kinetics, Laboratory Experiments
Hanson, Casper E. – Learning Resources, 1975
Author relates how his school district taught elementary students to operate media equipment. (Author)
Descriptors: Audiovisual Aids, Educational Experiments, Educational Media, Electronic Equipment
Peer reviewedMetz, Robert – Journal of College Science Teaching, 1975
Describes an introductory course in geology for nonscience majors that involves students in laboratory exercises related to rock classification. (GS)
Descriptors: Classification, College Science, Course Descriptions, Earth Science
Peer reviewedMacKinnon, John A. – Physics Teacher, 1974
Descriptors: College Science, Computers, Course Descriptions, Electronics
