Baer, Michael A.; Jewell, Malcolm E. – Teaching Political Science, 1979
Describes an experiment in teaching research methods to undergraduate students in political science. The experiment centered around a data lab that met weekly and provided students with information pertaining to data processing and statistics. Information on student evaluation of the experiment is included. (Author/DB)

Hagee, Gale L.; Stewart, Bob R. – Journal of the American Association of Teacher Educators in Agriculture, 1978
The effects of three types of laboratory instruction on transfer of learning from a single-cylinder agricultural engine to a multicylinder agricultural engine in the area of carburetion were studied. There were no significant differences among treatment groups on mean quality scores. Instruction method did affect task completion time. (JH)

Hayn, Carl H.; Galvin, Vincent, Jr. – American Journal of Physics, 1979
A gas pressure gauge has been constructed for use in a student experiment involving the law of atmospheres. From pressure data obtained at selected elevations the average mass of air molecules is determined and compared to that calculated from the molecular weights and percentages of constituents to the air. Raham, R. Gary – American Biology Teacher, 1978
For teachers in search of an easily obtainable, readily dissectable, and unique living specimen to arouse the interest of their students and illustrate important biological principles, lichens are the perfect selection. Background information and experiments on lichen anatomy, physiology, and chemistry are given. An appendix gives culture media.…

Lynch, P. P. – Journal of Research in Science Teaching, 1978
Establishes the extent to which practical work in South African high schools varies with respect to factors such as gender of student, type of school, medium of instruction, and examination board. Investigates the relationship between experience of experimental work and pupil attainment as measured by matriculation grade. (Author/GA)
