Questionnaires relating to employment status, job satisfaction, and job search methods were completed by graduates of a program in human services (N=156). Results indicated that graduates are finding employment with human service agencies and are satisfied with other positions. Field experiences often provided employment opportunities. (RC)

A study comparing the duration of unemployment and the postunemployment earnings of women over and under age 45 determined that there are significant differences between older and younger women in job-search behavior, employment opportunities, earnings, and assistance received from employment service agencies and unions. According to a national survey, a majority of workers heard about their current jobs through friends and relatives. Informal channels were used more among young, less educated, and blue-collar workers, while women were less likely than men to have used such channels. (SK)

Examines one dimension of the job search process: the relationship between job source and subsequent work experiences. Revealed that, when respondents entered the labor market, those relying on formal job sources tended to work in higher-level occupations and in jobs more related to their training than their counterparts.
