In this study, a unit on flow charts was developed and its effectiveness in helping teachers explain some algorithms from arithmetic was determined. Findings showed that constructing flow charts helped students give a more complete list of instructions for an algorithm, but didn't help them give better justifications for algorithms. (DT)
