Occupation, education, and income of the husbands reported by wives were used as measures of socioeconomic status. The findings show an inverse relationship between three measures of socioeconomic status and fertility pattern, and that the Shirazi couples prefer smaller families as they become richer and more educated. Examines the impact of sexual satisfaction and the congruence of mates' perceptions on overall marital satisfaction in 290 people who had been married 18 to 32 years. Examined therapists' attitudes and fantasies toward clients involved in extramarital sex, sexually open marriages, and swinging. Therapists (N=57) responded to a 17-item questionnaire. Tested the hypothesis that the inverse relationship between marital happiness and disruption will be strong under conditions of high marital alternatives and weak under conditions of low marital alternatives.
