Leubner, C. – American Journal of Physics, 1981
Since many texts use an incorrect argument in obtaining the instantaneous velocity of a rotating body, a correct and concise derivation of this quantity for a rather general case is given. (Author/SK)
Descriptors: College Science, Force, Higher Education, Mathematical Applications
Kohl, Herb – Teacher, 1979
The author recommends establishing a student-run classroom or school business to teach about work and money and to motivate mathematics learning, as well as to raise money for student activities. He describes the toy store run by his students and suggests other types of suitable businesses. (SJL)

Epps, Pamela D.; Savage, Tom V., Jr. – Illinois School Research and Development, 1980
This article describes the development of a unit for a team-taught middle school program integrating mathematics skills with map and globe skills such as distance, direction, scale, longitude, latitude, location, and climate. Some of the learning activities of the unit are outlined. (Author/SJL)

Dossey, John A.; Jones, Marilyn Doran – Illinois School Research and Development, 1980
The computation, concept, and application subtests of the Stanford Achievement Tests (SAT) were administered to a student sample during grades 3, 5, and 7. The efficiency of earlier scores and Otis Lennon Mental Ability Test scores in predicting seventh-grade SAT math scores was examined and found to be weak. (SJL)
