Langhaar, Henry L. – 1975
This paper is addressed to the importance of maintaining rigor (a strict adherence to certain principles of reasoning) in the teaching of mechanics. The importance of a strict interpretation of mathematical formulae and the necessity of rigorous definitions of time, mass, and force are shown through a series of examples. Implications of this idea…

Chapman, Peggy A. – 1976
Purpose Process Curriculum Framework is a conceptual structure for facilitating curriculum decisions in physical education. It is comprised of two sets of concepts intended to provide a frame of reference for understanding movement phenomena; the first group is derived from the purposes of movement; and the second group from the processes by which…

McDaniel, Suzanne T. – American Journal of Physics, 1979
A simplified derivation of the parabolic approximation to the acoustical wave equation is presented. Exact solutions to this approximate equation are compared with solutions to the wave equation to demonstrate the applicability of this method to the study of underwater sound propagation. (Author/BB)

Murch, G. E. – American Journal of Physics, 1979
A simple Monte Carlo method is used to simulate an atomistic model of solid-state diffusion. This approach illustrates some of the principles of diffusion and in particular verifies a solution to Fick's second law. The role and calculation of the diffusion correlation factor is also discussed. (Author/BB)
