The present project studied whether a feelings class changed elementary school children's choices of potential behavioral reactions. The WISC and WISC-R were administered to 20 Black psychiatric outpatients, ages 8 to 15. Scores revealed the two tests to be essentially different, with lower Verbal, Performance, and Full Scale IQs on the WISC-R. Seven autistic, seven Down's syndrome, and seven normal children of approximately the same mental age were trained on a single dimension, simultaneous match-to match problem. The results suggest that Down's syndrome, and not autistic children suffer from additional deficits. (Author/KC)

This study compared the performance on speed tests in depressed and nondepressed, nonschizophrenic, nonorganic psychiatric patients. The groups were matched for general psychopathology, sex, age, and education. The findings are discussed in relation to the literature. (Author/KC)

Students' (N=1017) perceptions of barriers, facilitating factors, and information needs related to consideration of careers in science were investigated. Results suggest girls have doubts about combining family life with a science career, lack information about steps in preparing for a science career, and believe influential adults. (Author)
