England, Don – Journal of Chemical Education, 1981
Presents a figure that aids in unifying stereochemical concepts in organic chemistry instruction. (CS)
Descriptors: Charts, Chemistry, College Science, Diagrams
Merrill, Paul F. – NSPI Journal, 1980
Describes ways in which algorithms which refer to underlying procedures should be represented in order to improve communication in educational and/or training materials. Representations of linear procedures, decision rule procedures, and complex procedures are provided. (MER)

Snover, Stephen L.; Spikell, Mark A. – Mathematics Teacher, 1979
Solutions to difficult equations are illustrated with numerical techniques that can be used easily on calculators. Flowcharts and programs for computers and calculators are included. (MP)

Giblon, Della L. – RQ, 1979
Briefly reviews the historical involvement of public libraries in adult programing, provides arguments for such service, and resources for background information on it, and then outlines in steps the decision points and components of an adult educational framework. (JD)

Holloway, Frank A.; Sturgis, Robert D. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Animal Behavior Processes, 1976
Investigates the nature of the rhythmic process mediating multiple retention deficits in rats, i.e., whether it was induced by a training procedure or based on a pre-existing physiological rhythm. Also concerns the mechanism of the rhythm's effect on retention performance, whether it affects performance factors per se or the retrieval of prior…

Meyer, Wulf-Uwe; And Others – Journal of Research in Personality, 1976
Four experiments are presented that examine the affective and the informational explanations of risk-preference behavior. Experiments I and II provide a phenomenological analysis of the affective and informational determinants of choice behavior while Experiments III and IV investigates at what level of difficulty individuals most desire…

Wolff, J. G. – British Journal of Psychology, 1977
A computer model (program MK 10) which was described in a previous paper (Wolff, 1975 "a") was intended to show how the segmental structure of a language may be learned by young children despite the apparent absence of consistent physical markers like pause or stress for the boundaries of words and other linguistic segments. Osman, Jack – Instructor, 1977
Most teachers are, according to "Instructor's" Teacher Health Survey. The author, a Professor at Towson State College, Baltimore, Maryland, who wrote "Thin from Within", encourages teachers to try his values clarification approach to weight control. With it, they'll keep pounds off permanently. (Editor/RK)

Hoon, Peter W.; And Others – Journal of Abnormal Psychology, 1977
Tests Wolpe's prediction that autonomic sexual and anxiety arousal states are mutually inhibitory. Results suggest that the way these states interact with each other may depend on the context in which subjects perceive the stimuli that generate these respective arousal states. (Editor/RK)

Poltrock, Steven E.; Hunt, Earl – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 1977
A phonetic confusion model and some procedural artifacts were eliminated as sources for individual differences in fusion rate. Results of these two experiments were consistent with the hypothesis that individual differences in fusion rate are due to differences in perceptual dependence on linguistic rules. (Editor/RK)

Brigell, Mitchell; And Others – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 1977
A multiple regression analysis of sequential effects in magnitude estimation and absolute identification is presented as an alternative to the approach used by Lockhead and his students. The new analysis indicates that sequential effects do not extend over more than one trial. (Editor)

Wong, Tong S. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 1977
In four experiments involving blindfolded subjects, constant errors in the haptic judgment of extent in the horizontal plane were found to relate consistently to the time and velocity of limb movement. Taken together with additional information on judgments of movement duration, the results suggest that the illusion of extent is modulated by the…

Boykin, A. Wade – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 1977
On each of 10 trials, 80 college students were presented with a different set of five anagram tasks varying in complexity. Half the subjects rated the tasks for the amount of interestingness and half for the amount of pleasantness. (Editor/RK)

Chapman, Loren J.; And Others – Journal of Abnormal Psychology, 1976
True-false scales were devised to measure anhedonia, the lowered ability to experience pleasure. The scales were Physical Anhedonia (40 items) and Social Anhedonia (48 items). (Editor)
