Describes how local area unemployment statistics are developed by state employment security agencies to provide the Bureau of Labor Statistics with data on the insured unemployed by county of residence. The income redistributive effects of financing public higher education in a midwestern state is measured. The results show that the financing scheme is regressive in that low-income families' share of program costs exceeds their benefits. An evaluation performance program specifically oriented toward such administrative actions as tenure, promotion, and salary adjustment is described. A model is used to analyze the choices made by a sample of high school graduates in Hawaii and estimates of the price elasticity and the cross-price elasticities of demand for enrollment at the University of Hawaii are obtained.
