Descriptors: College Science, Computer Assisted Instruction, Electricity, Instructional Materials
Peer reviewedNeman, R. L. – Science Education, 1972
Describes two formulas for calculating errors due to instrument limitations which are usually found in gravimetric volumetric analysis and indicates their possible applications to other fields of science. (CC)
Descriptors: Chemical Analysis, Chemistry, College Science, Instructional Materials
Peer reviewedArmstrong, Terry – Journal of Research in Science Teaching, 1972
Students who had taken a Biological Sciences Curriculum Study biology course in high school were more likely to choose a biology-related science program in college than students who had taken other high school biology courses. (AL)
Descriptors: College Science, Evaluation, Majors (Students), Science Course Improvement Projects
Peer reviewedPhilippas, Michael A.; Sommerfeldt, R. W. – American Journal of Physics, 1972
Attempt was made to assess effectiveness of the Keller Method'' versus the Lecture Method'' for teaching undergraduate level physics. Experimental and control groups were imparted instruction in the same content area by the same staff for one year. No significant differences were identified. (PS)

Peer reviewedRunquist, Olaf; And Others – Journal of Chemical Education, 1972
Describes simulated chemistry experiments programed into a Wang 360 programable calculator. Gives data on a sample titration simulation. (TS)
Descriptors: Chemical Reactions, Chemistry, College Science, Computer Programs
Peer reviewedWard, Thomas Carl – Journal of Chemical Education, 1972
Tape recordings of lectures were made available to all students. Teacher comments on an individual student's tests were made available on tape to each student. Student and faculty reactions support continuing and expanding the program. (TS)

Peer reviewedAgnew, N. H. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1972
Suggests that adequate attention should be given to lattice imperfections in teaching solid state chemistry. Some concepts to be included in such a program are explained. An experiment to be performed by undergraduates on photomicrography is described in detail. (PS)

Peer reviewedWhite, John M.; And Others – Journal of Chemical Education, 1972
A freshman chemistry course was taught with emphasis on self-pacing, student-instructor interaction, and individual understanding of each topic. Student were graded after each unit and on the final exam. Results of the investigation showed higher grades and greater student participation compared to previous groups taught by the lecture method. (PS)
