Hunsley, John – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1985
The impact of test anxiety on test performance and the cognitive appraisals of test-anxious students were explored. The pattern of students' anxiety and appraisals suggests that test-anxious students experience most doubt and concern in the term. (Author/LMO)

Long, Bonita C.; And Others – Evaluation and Program Planning, 1986
A needs assessment was conducted to identify the health needs of school district employees in planning a comprehensive employee health service. Survey questionnaires were analyzed to determine characteristics of those individuals who may be at greatest health risk. Results indicate that degree of stress can differentiate health risk predictors.…

Moran, James D., III – Home Economics Research Journal, 1986
Describes the appropriate control of experiment-wise error rates and the researcher's role in making decisions to control for Type 1 errors. Issues related to level of significance, one- versus two-tailed tests, and the use of multivariate statistics are included. (Author/CT)

Thompson, Bruce; Borrello, Gloria M. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
Multiple regression analysis is frequently being employed in experimental and non-experimental research. However, when data include predictor variables that are correlated, some regression results can become difficult to interpret. This paper presents a study to provide a demonstration that structure coefficients may be useful in these cases.…

Chew, Alex L.; Morris, John D. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
The validity of the Lollipop Test: A Diagnostic Screening Test of School Readiness was examined using the Metropolitan Readiness Test (MRT), Level I, Form Q, as the criterion. Appreciable concurrent validity was found across test batteries. Implications for school readiness screening are discussed. (Author/BS)

Liu, Richard; Sanders, Jack – Research in Higher Education, 1984
A simplified example of a technique, conceived by Yates and later developed by Goodman and Haberman, for the determination of appropriate log-models in the measurement of qualitative data in higher education is presented. (Author/MLW)

Estabrook, Graydon E. – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1984
Three significant canonical correlations were obtained from the analysis of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) and the Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Cognitive Ability (WJTCA) to examine test overlap with a sample of suspected learning disabled children. Results indicate a substantial portion of the variance is independent.…

Reynolds, Cecil R.; Paget, Kathleen D. – School Psychology Review, 1983
To develop normative data for the revision of the Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale, the scale was administered to 4,972 children, ages 6 to 19 years, representing all geographic regions of the United States. Reliability was satisfactory for all groups except Black females below age 12 years. (Author/BW)

McMillan, Julie; Rothman, Sheldon; Wernert, Nicole – Australian Council for Educational Research, 2005
Over the past two decades, both the number and the proportion of students undertaking formal study past the compulsory school years have increased dramatically. Between 1991 and 2000, for example, the number of people aged 19 and under participating in all forms of vocational education and training (VET) increased by more than 50 per cent (NCVER,…

Grundmann, Matthias – 1997
Following the assumptions of ecological socialization research, adequate analysis of socialization conditions must take into account the multilevel and multivariate structure of social factors that impact on human development. This statement implies that complex models of family configurations or of socialization factors are needed to explain the…

Dawson, Thomas E. – 1998
This paper describes structural equation modeling (SEM) in comparison with another overarching analysis within the general linear model (GLM) analytic family: canonical correlation analysis. The uninitiated reader can gain an understanding of SEM's basic tenets and applications. Latent constructs discovered via a measurement model are explored and…

Lopez, David F.; Takiff, Hilary; Kernan, Thomas; Stone, Renee – 2000
A study investigated the relationship between arts education and academic achievement. Of specific interest was whether teaching the arts for their own sake influenced academic achievement in language arts and mathematics. It was hypothesized that it would influence children's self-efficacy. The sample consisted of 328 children from grades 2-5.…

Dickinson, Wendy B. – 2000
This study uses an algorithm-based visual display technique (FACES) to provide enhanced detection of multivariate outliers within large-scale data sets. The FACES computer graphing algorithm (H. Chernoff, 1973) constructs a cartoon-like face, using up to 18 variables for each case. A major advantage of FACES is the ability to store and show the…

Lee, Sik-Yum; Tsui, Kwok-Leung – Psychometrika, 1982
The work of Joreskog and Sorbom in comparing factor structures of several populations is extended to a more general analysis of covariance structures. Also, more complex constraints on parameters are allowed in this work. (JKS)

Huynh, Huynh – Psychometrika, 1982
A Bayesian framework for making mastery/nonmastery decisions based on multivariate test data is described. Overall, mastery is granted if the posterion expected loss associated with such action is smaller than the one incurred by denying mastery. (Author/JKS)
