Studies have shown that intimate interpersonal relationships are governed by certain general rules, or shared expectations about what is and what is not appropriate to the relationship. A survey of K-12 teachers in Great Britain revealed that these general rules of conduct are also critical in the teacher-pupil relationship. (RM)

Completed a factor analysis of the abbreviated Conners Teacher Rating Scale (CTRS) for 108 regular and special education students. Two factors accounted for 69.5 percent of the total response variance: Factor I described attention deficits and motor activity, and Factor II described excessive affective reactions. (JAC)

The natural rates of teacher approval of appropriate student behavior and off-task student behavior were determined in middle school classrooms. Mean rates of teacher approval were found to exceed rates of disapproval. Inappropriate approval also appeared to be a relevant factor in managing classroom behavior. (Author/ DWH)
