Peer reviewedSharan, Shlomo; Yaakobi, Duba – European Journal of Science Education, 1981
The Learning Environment Inventory (LEI) was administered to tenth-grade biology classes (N=572) in urban and kibbutz district schools in Israel. Findings indicated that seven out of nine scales of the LEI yield significant differences in scores for urban and kibbutz samples indicating a more positive learning climate in the kibbutz. (Author/DS)
Descriptors: Biology, Classroom Environment, Foreign Countries, Grade 10
Peer reviewedOlstad, Roger G.; Beal, Jack L. – Science Teacher, 1981
Reports the findings of a survey on the numbers of secondary school science and mathematics teachers from 1974 to 1979. Indicates a decline in the number of teachers with majors and minors in science and mathematics. Recommends that professional organizations encourage more qualified persons to work as teachers. (SK)
