Distlehorst, Linda H.; Barrows, Howard S. – Journal of Medical Education, 1982
A set of instructional materials for acquisition of clinical reasoning skills through independent study has been developed that uses simulation of patient encounters and addresses both medical and psychosocial issues. Small group instruction with the materials is preferred over individual use. (MSE)

Coleman, Thomas G.; Randall, James E. – Physiologist, 1983
Describes computer program (HUMAN) used to simulate physiological experiments on patient pathology. Program (available from authors, including versions for microcomputers) consists of dynamic interactions of over 150 physiological variables and integrating approximations of cardiovascular, renal, lung, temperature regulation, and some hormone…

Birenbaum, Menucha; Tatsuoka, Kikumi – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1982
Empirical results from two studies--a simulation study and an experimental one--indicated that, in achievement data of the problem-solving type where a specific subject matter area is being tested, the greater the variety of the algorithms used, the higher the dimensionality of the test data. Little, Joseph W. – Journal of Legal Education, 1981
Negotiation and advocacy simulations, introduced into a Torts I course at the University of Florida College of Law, are described and evaluated by the teacher using them. Extensive supporting materials for the cases in point are appended, including statements of the problems, rules and instructions, tactics, and report forms. (MSE)

Stadler, Holly A.; Rynearson, David – Counselor Education and Supervision, 1981
Describes a simulation method that encourages students to experience powerlessness, isolation, and few if any options, in order to develop a clearer understanding of their clients, environments, and problems of minority groups. Discusses the applicability of the simulation beyond counselor education programs. (Author/RC)

Gustafsson, Jan-Eric – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1979
Computer generated data are used to show that Slinde and Linn's criticism of the usefulness of the Rasch model for equating (EJ 189 585) may have been the result of an artifact produced by the manner in which the samples were chosen in their study. (CTM)
