Wikoff, Richard L.; Kafka, Gene F. – Journal of College Student Personnel, 1981
Investigated the effectiveness of the Survey of Study Habits (SSHA) in improving prediction of achievement. Davis, J. Kent; Annis, Linda – Journal of Experimental Education, 1978
Undergraduates were grouped into various study and review conditions to determine the effect of using a preferred or nonpreferred study technique and of being familiar or unfamiliar with an assigned reading topic. Vitale, Michael R.; Hebbler, Stephen W. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1978
Six fourth graders learned paired associates of their choice under high and low reinforcement conditions. Equivalent lists were also studied as homework on which correct test responses were reinforced equally. The children preferred to study and learned more on the highly reinforced lists during the experimental sessions. (Author/GDC)

Kramer, Steven L. – NASSP Bulletin, 1997
A study of British Columbia high schools found that block scheduling can endanger mathematics achievement. Reduced math scores were attributed to irregular planning time, little opportunity to modify curriculum; and the provincial examination system. Longer time blocks cannot succeed without adequate planning time, curricular restructuring, and…

Lazar, Althier M. – College Teaching, 1995
A college teacher's survey of 100 freshmen found only 11 who planned to study in groups, and that most would do so for subjects they believed the most difficult, particularly those requiring quantitative problem-solving and those in which assessment was more frequent. Maki, Ruth H.; Serra, Matt – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1992
The role of practice tests in predictions about test performance on texts was investigated in 3 experiments with a total of 180 college students. Taking a similar practice test did not help students predict their test performance. Practice tests may help students learn information. (SLD)
