Describes a semester-long study of microorganisms in an aquarium as performed by a beginning microbiology class. Gives results and conclusions drawn by students utilizing many ecological principles to interpret the results. Presents the procedures and results of an experiment to provide independent scheduling of the Introductory Physical Science Program for 9th grade students at the Fridley Junior High School, Fridley, Minnesota. The IPS course was programed for students to follow at their own rate. The advantages and problems of the program are discussed. (LC)
