Peer reviewedMcCormack, Alan J. – Science Activities, 1972
Phenomenon of effect of magnetic field on plant growth provides wide opportunities for research in classrooms. Using moderately powerful magnets, seed growth patterns can be observed in pre-germination treatment, germination period exposure and under many other conditions. Such research may enable understanding magnetotropism more clearly. (PS)

Peer reviewedStarr, Robert J. – Journal of Research in Science Teaching, 1972
There was no significant difference in attitudes toward biology between high-ability grade nine biology students exposed to 20 randomly selected Invitations to Enquiry'' and similar students whose course did not include invitations. There is some suggestion that more difficult Invitations'' later in the course may have arrested a general decline…

Peer reviewedJones, Paul L.; Blankenship, Jacob W. – Journal of Research in Science Teaching, 1972
Teachers who are classified as humanistic'' were perceived by students as using different teaching styles than those classified as custodial.'' The humanistic'' teachers tended to be perceived as using techniques more compatible with the recommendations of the Biological Sciences Curriculum Study writers. (AL)
