Present methods for storage of radioactive wastes produced at nuclear power facilities are described. Problems arising from present waste management are discussed and potential solutions explored. (JP)

Both economic and environmental factors are affecting the further development of liquid metal fast breeder reactors. Rising costs of plant production and the possible environmental effects of the breeder system have caused the U.S. to consider carefully this method of energy production.
