Problems and Prospects of Training in Higher Education for the Digital Economy in Peru
Education in the Asia-Pacific Region: Issues, Concerns and Prospects
The research aims to identify the problems of formation and determine the prospects for developing the digital economy in Peru. The authors applied general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, grouping, the graphical method, and the sociological survey. As a result, the authors identified the problematic aspects of the formation of digital infrastructure and the development of digital technologies in Peru, which include: (1) a lag in the introduction of digital technologies from other countries; (2) a low level of Internet coverage; (3) high competition in the market; and (4) the unpreparedness for digitalization of residents of remote regions of the country. The authors concluded that there has been an increase in support for the development of the information and telecommunication industries from the government of Peru. However, it is still insufficient, although the country has prospects for a digital economy. With a targeted state policy of the government of Peru, we can expect a phased solution to the identified problems and intensification of digitalization processes in the country to reduce the serious gap from other countries in the Latin American region and from the world centers of the digital economy in general.
