Hill, P. W.; McGaw, B. – American Educational Research Journal, 1981
In an attempt to resolve conflicting conclusions arising from an investigation of the validity of the claimed psychological properties of Bloom's taxonomy, the LISREL method was applied to the data of Kropp and Stoker. The simplex assumption was supported when the knowledge category is deleted from the taxonomy. (Author/RL)

Tauber, Margaret A. – Child Development, 1979
Analysis of videotapes of 145 third graders playing with a parent showed (1) that parents of girls were more likely to engage in sociable play, parents of boys in active play; and (2) that maternal behavior remained relatively constant regardless of child's sex while paternal behavior varied for boys and girls. Sachar, Jane – Journal of Experimental Education, 1980
The partial correlation coefficient is derived analytically under exemplary factor patterns. In these patterns, variables are described as an additive composition of a set of orthogonal factors, including general, common, and specific factors. Viewed in this framework, it is evident that the partial correlation may yield spurious results.…

Ellis, D. W.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1980
Students in grades 7 through 12 completed the Self Observation Scales. The factor structures of six age/grade groups were compared to determine the stability of the structure of self-concept. Seven dimensions of self-concept were found to be stable while one dimension of self-concept changed. (Author/BW)

Zung, Burton J. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1980
The relationship between the Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test (MAST) and the subject's sex and income was significant. If male or poor, he was more likely to receive a higher score on MAST. There was no significant correlation with age, marital status, education, or duration of residency. (Author/BEF)

Hagekull, Berit; And Others – International Journal of Behavioral Development, 1980
The dimensional structure of infants' behavioral repertoire was shown to be highly stable over 3 to 15 months of age. Factor analysis of parent questionnaire data produced seven factors named Intensity/Activity, Regularity, Approach-Withdrawal, Sensory Sensitivity, Attentiveness, Manageability and Sensitivity to New Food. An eighth factor,…

Furneaux, W. D.; Rees, Ruth – British Journal of Psychology, 1978
A mathematics test and the Thurstone PMA Battery were administered to 225 technical students. The item/item correlations were analyzed using both a principal components and a maximum-likelihood method. After varimax rotation, the same structure emerged from both. Results suggest a "mathematical ability" factor independent of…

Wilson, J. A.; And Others – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1976
Examines the two issues of system dimensionality and situational discrimination in a research program which entailed the training of observers on two classroom observation systems, followed by their involvement in a classroom observation experiment. (RC)

Risley-Curtiss, Christina – Child Welfare, 1997
Explored prevalence and ability of selected factors to explain sexual activity and use of contraceptives among a cohort of children entering out-of-home care. Found that children as young as 8 reported sexual activity and more than one-third between ages 8 and 18 are sexually active. Identified five important variables in sexual activity and two…

Dedrick, Robert F.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
Confirmatory factor analysis was used to evaluate the factor structure of the eight cross-informant scales of the Child Behavior Checklist (T. M. Aschenbach, 1991) using data from 631 youth ages 8 to 18. Results support Aschenbach's eight- correlated-factor model and the construct validity of the measure's scores. (SLD)

Paunonen, Sampo V. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
A Monte Carlo simulation evaluated conditions that contribute to excessively high coefficients of congruence when fitting one factor pattern matrix into the space of a targeted pattern. Results support the conclusion that orthogonal Procrustes methods of factor rotation do produce spurious coefficients between predictor and criterion factor…

Williams, Tamra Y.; And Others – Psychological Assessment, 1996
Whether the four-factor structure of the Aggression Questionnaire (A. Buss and M. Perry, 1992) from previous studies would be replicated in an offender population was studied with 200 adult offenders. Results of a confirmatory factor analysis indicate that a two-factor structure is a better fit with offenders. (SLD)

Juliano, Jane M.; And Others – Journal of School Psychology, 1988
Compared Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) tests and retest scores for 322 learning disabled children over three years for factor structure and structure stability. Results suggest that WISC-R factor structure was stable over three years. Coefficients of congruence indicated factorial similarity between groups of Black and…

Carey, John C.; And Others – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1988
Attempted to verify multidimensional nature and item composition of Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) subscales through factor analysis. IRI responses from 365 female clinical dieticians and dietetic interns supported contention that IRI subscales measure four discernibly different empathy dimensions. (NB)

Zautra, Alex J.; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1988
Examined factor structure of mental health self-reports among older adults who were either physically disabled (N=59), recently widowed (N=52), or matched controls (N=113). Subjects completed Mental Health Inventory, Psychiatric Epidemiology Research Interview Demoralization Composite, and Bradburn Positive Affect Scale. Analyses suggest…
