A summary of use of DDC in U.S. and Canadian libraries shows that 85 percent of all libraries use DDC; of these, 75 percent use the most recent full or abridged edition. The FID Central Classification Committee is responsible for UDC and its revision. The Standard Reference Code (SRC) has been developed to meet the FID need for a new superstructure of UDC and the UNISIST need for a Broad System of Ordering.
