Ari Schwartz; Elena Wikner; Leslie Dietiker; Rashmi Singh
Mathematics Teacher: Learning and Teaching PK-12, v118 n6 p445-452 2025
Who doesn't love a good story? In this article, the authors share how teachers can utilize the idea of mathematical stories to significantly enhance existing lessons. They use a creative framework to reimagine lessons as mathematical stories and make lessons more engaging for students. The authors will first describe how to think about a lesson through the lens of storytelling. Then, they will demonstrate how they used this lens to revise two different lessons, one by the first author and another by the second author. They conclude by offering suggestions for teachers interested in implementing this approach.
