A study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of a set of computer based teaching materials within a graduate library reference course. Evaluation of the materials and techniques was conducted for the purpose of revision and to determine the overall effectiveness of the materials as integral parts of the course. In each of three studies, students using computer assisted instruction for supplemental drill and practice in a first organic chemistry course performed consistently higher than control students on sections of the course examinations related to the content of the programs. (AL)
