Because study of climatology in most college and university geography departments is descriptive, it gives no fundamental insights into geophysical processes. A study comparing a video-tutorial method of instruction in first-year college accounting with the lecture-demonstration method did not provide evidence that either method was superior. However, it was concluded that the use of prepared videocassette tapes can be an effective method of instruction. (MF)

Thin-section photomicrographs are used to introduce the introductory geology laboratory classes to many of the optical properties of minerals. Evaluation by questionnaire suggests that the study of thin sections has a positive effect on the enjoyment and understanding of rock identification and classification by introductory students. In this college physics course, about two-thirds of each term is devoted to the essential subject matter: the core. For the remainder of each term, the student pursues a branch topic of his choice. A self-paced format for the branch part allows several branches to proceed simultaneously. (BB)

Presents results of a survey of courses offered by college psychology departments from 1975-77, and compares results with a 1950 study. There are 519 percent more courses offered now than in 1950.
