Sachar, Jane; Suppes, Patrick – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1980
The present study compared six methods, two of which utilize the content structure of items, to estimate total-test scores using 450 students and 60 items of the 110-item Stanford Mental Arithmetic Test. Three methods yielded fairly good estimates of the total-test score. (Author/RL)

Brook, Judith; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1980
Thirty-three white, upper-class adolescents and their mothers completed questionnaires containing modified forms of several Bronfenbrenner and Schaefer parental behavior scales. Murphy, R. J. L. – British Journal of Educational Psychology, 1981
This investigation studied the relationship between both GCE O-level examination grades and teachers' estimates of A-level examination grades, and actual A-level grades obtained by a sample of university applicants. Moderate levels of correlation were reported in both cases, although teachers' estimates appeared to be slightly better predictors.…

Johnson, William C.; And Others – Social Behavior and Personality, 1980
Characteristics of personality research were surveyed and compared with previous reports in an attempt to identify trends. Current research in personality was guided by microtheories and experimental research designs were more prevalent. Dissatisfaction with the current status of research and the proper focus of "personality" was partially…

Omizo, Michael M. – Humanist Educator, 1981
Examined the relationship between self-actualization measures and ability in facilitative communication of trainees from counseling, social work, and psychology programs to determine if differences existed between the three groups. Self-actualization indexes were significantly correlated with ability in facilitative communication. (RC)

Truckenmiller, James L.; Schaie, K. Warner – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1979
Considers issue of equivalence across first three levels in Leary system. Results confirm that factors I and II roughly correspond to Leary's Dominance and Love factors, respectively. (Author)

O'Grady, Kevin E.; Janda, Louis H. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1979
This inventory measures sex guilt, hostility guilt, and morality-conscience guilt. Analyses indicate the appropriateness of a simple present-absent scoring system. Internal structure of each subscale is complex. Intercorrelations of scores are larger for males. (Author/BEF)

Foster, Glen G.; And Others – Alberta Journal of Educational Research, 1980
Reporting a significant relationship between teacher acceptance of diverse behavior and their resistance to the biasing influence of a deviancy label, this article indicates academic performance of at least some children may be affected by the bias effect and suggests five ways to reduce the negative effects of bias. (Author/SB)

Butcher, James N.; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1980
Results indicate that short forms of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory may not be accurate substitutes for the standard form in predicting objective measures of psychopathology. Newmark et al, however, reassert their findings that short forms are indeed accurate substitutes. (Author/BEF)

Ollendick, Duane G.; LaBerteaux, Paul J. – Journal of Psychology, 1978

Greener, Jack M.; Osburn, H. G. – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1979
A correction procedure for estimating correlation coefficients when faced with the problem of a restricted range in the variables due to an explicit selection procedure was empirically investigated. Results indicated that the assumption of linearity is critical, but that homoscedasticity is less important. (JKS)
