Thorp, Frank K. – Journal of the Association for the Study of Perception, 1975

Neperud, Ronald W. – Journal of Environmental Education, 1975
The purpose of this study was to investigate the elementary student's concept of environmental image of favorite places. The research was based on drawings and verbalizations from two groups of students, one rural and the other suburban. Under such conditions, some general trends and conclusions concerning environmental images were observed. (MA)

Aiken, Leona S.; Williams, Tannis M. – Child Development, 1975
A study of the use of multiple form dimensions in pattern classification by children in Grades 2 and 5, and adults. Reliability of classification, number and saliency of features selected, and accuracy with which they were used all implied continuous development of perceptual skills. (Author/ED)

Lewis, Michael; Goldberg, Susan – Merrill-Palmer Quart, 1969
Paper presented at the Merrill-Palmer Institute on Research and Training of Infant Development (Detroit, Mich., Feb. 15-17, 1968).
Descriptors: Cognitive Development, Infants, Models, Parent Child Relationship
Nelson, Keith; Kessen, William – 1969
This study tested the hypothesis that newborns selectively orient toward angular elements in their visual field. Subjects were 36 awake and alert infants under 6 days of age. For each newborn, the study compared visual attention to three separately presented stimulus patterns: a complete outline triangle, only the sides of this triangle, and only…

Rheinish, Robert K. – 1971
A study investigated how children between ages 5 and 11 perceive three types of film transition. A second purpose was to determine if there was an emergent recognition pattern among these three types of film transition devices: image magnification on a cut (a camera transition), lap dissolve (an optical transition), and clean exit (a subject…

Leahy, Robert L. – Developmental Psychology, 1976
Corneal infrared photography was used to record the visual fixations of 24 infants (4-6 weeks and 10-12 weeks) exposed to simple geometric figures. The results are discussed in relation to developmental changes in responsiveness to visual figures and in increasing ability to process information. (JMB)

Conrod, Beverley E.; And Others – Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, 1986
Active and passive perceptual training methods were tested with 30 macular degeneration patients to improve their residual vision. The main conclusion was that perceptual training may contribute to successful visual adjustment and that the effect of training is not limited to a particular level of visual impairment. (Author/CL)

Lepecq, Jean-Claude – International Journal of Behavioral Development, 1984
Investigates the ability of four-, five-, and six-year-olds to locate their starting point and retrieve an immobilized object after being blindfolded and moved. Results indicate that, while children as young as four years can coordinate an initial egocentrated target location with what they believe to be their starting point, computation of the…

Fagen, Jeffrey W.; Rovee, Carolyn Kent – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1976
In two studies footkicks and visual attention of 3-month-olds were measured across daily sessions with conjugate reinforcement provided by an overhead mobile containing identical components. Results imply that infants respond relationally, actively manipulating their visual environments as a function of their previous contextual experiences. (JH)

Markman, Ellen – Child Development, 1973
Class-inclusion in first grade children was studied by using part-whole comparisons of families of stimuli (e.g., dogs). Results indicated that it was easier to make part-whole comparisons for the family relation than for the class-inclusion relation. (ST)
