Oyadomari-Chun, Tammi J. – ProQuest LLC, 2010
Many studies examine the impact of students' characteristics and behaviors on high school outcomes: high school completion, college enrollment or college completion. This study uses regression analyses to explore the association of students' characteristics and behaviors and students' positive high school outcomes: graduating on-time, enrolling in…

Lathers, John Daniel – ProQuest LLC, 2010
The purpose of the study was to examine generic instructor characteristics capable of predicting learning outcomes for application to the evaluation process of formalized trainers within U.S. Marine Corps vocational specialty courses. A survey instrument was created based on research findings from multiple training disciplines and educational…

Kieu, Hung Q. – ProQuest LLC, 2010
Leadership is critically important because it affects the health of the organization. Research has found that leadership is one of the most significant contributors to organizational performance. Expanding and replicating previous research, and focusing on the specific telecommunications sector, this study used multiple correlation and regression…

Bhrommalee, Panu – ProQuest LLC, 2011
Online learning provides learners with more convenient and flexible ways of learning than does a traditional learning environment. Many Thai universities have implemented online learning for their students despite a lack of knowledge and understanding about students' attitudes toward and behavioral intention to using the system. The purpose of…

de Leeuw, Jan – Psychometrika, 1977
Kruskal has proposed two modifications of monotone regression that can be applied if there are ties in nonmetric scaling data. In this note Kruskal's conjecture that his algorithms give the optimal least squares solution of these modified monotone regression problems is proven. Also, an additional approach is proposed. Morris, John D. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1976
A Fortran IV computer program is presented which will unambiguously partition the explained variance of a dependent variable into those parts due uniquely to each independent variable and to all possible combinations of independent variables through commonality analysis. Tests of significance and documentation are provided. (Author/JKS)

Stewart, Thomas R. – Psychometrika, 1976
By applying a general procedure for analyzing a correlation coefficient into components, the lens model equation is extended to (a) analyze the effects of different types of variation and (b) analyze the relations between judgmental systems that are not based on the same set of cues. (Author)

Fabunmi, Martins; Erwat, Eseza Akiror – African Higher Education Review, 2008
This study investigated through empirical methods the extent to which information acquisition and information management capacity of administrators in tertiary institutions in South-Western Nigeria contributed to their decision-making effectiveness. It adopted the ex post facto survey research design, using the random sampling technique to select…

Jason, Leonard A.; Groh, David R.; Durocher, Megan; Alvarez, Josefina; Aase, Darrin M.; Ferrari, Joseph R. – Journal of Community Psychology, 2008
Group homes sometimes face significant neighborhood opposition, and municipalities frequently use maximum occupancy laws to close down these homes. This study examined how the number of residents in Oxford House recovery homes impacted residents' outcomes. Larger homes (i.e., eight or more residents) may reduce the cost per person and offer more…

Lynch, Mervin D.; Foley-Peres, Kathleen D.; Sullivan, Stefanie S. – Educational Research Quarterly, 2008
The purposes of this study were to see if the items from the Piers Harris Self Concept Scale and the Coopersmith Self Esteem Inventory had construct and predictive validity. Items used in this study were 50 items from the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory and 80 items from the Piers Harris Self-Concept Scale. Construct measures were obtained using…

Hurtado, Nereyda; Marchman, Virginia A.; Fernald, Anne – Developmental Science, 2008
It is well established that variation in caregivers' speech is associated with language outcomes, yet little is known about the learning principles that mediate these effects. This longitudinal study (n = 27) explores whether Spanish-learning children's early experiences with language predict efficiency in real-time comprehension and vocabulary…

Bright-Paul, Alexandra; Jarrold, Christopher; Wright, Daniel B. – Developmental Psychology, 2008
According to the mental-state reasoning model of suggestibility, 2 components of theory of mind mediate reductions in suggestibility across the preschool years. The authors examined whether theory-of-mind performance may be legitimately separated into 2 components and explored the memory processes underlying the associations between theory of mind…
