Kaitlin Harrier; Todd Ziebarth
National Alliance for Public Charter Schools
2024 marked another year of considerable legislative progress by charter school supporters across the country. Advocates notched significant policy wins from coast to coast, including in red, blue, and purple states. This report provides highlights from this year's state legislative activity across the country, organized into the following categories: (1) funding and facilities; (2) authorizing; and (3) other issues. In looking at the results of this year's legislative sessions across the country, progress is highlighted in three states--Colorado, which notched some significant policy wins on both offense and defense, Idaho, which enacted an overhaul of their charter school law, and Missouri, which enacted new legislation and appropriated $2 million to support charter school facilities costs.
