This paper investigates the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in research libraries in China's Greater Bay Area, examining librarians' attitudes and the strategic direction for AI deployment. A survey revealed a generally positive stance toward AI, though tempered by uncertainties around current and future AI support. Findings suggest a need for clear communication from management around AI strategy and structured training to enhance staff readiness for AI adoption. The study aligns with global trends emphasizing the role of libraries in fostering AI literacy and ethical use. It underscores librarians' readiness to guide AI deployment, and advocates for a collaborative regional forum for sharing AI implementation experiences. The paper contributes to the discourse on AI in libraries, highlighting the need for strategic planning and proactive management in harnessing AI's potential to reinforce the role of academic libraries in supporting learning and research.
