Age related declines in fluid intelligence were accounted for by age-related declines in a general latency factor (cognitive speed) for 63 adults aged 26 to 80 years, but results called into question the assumption that cognitive speed accounts for all individual IQ differences. (SLD)

Peer reviewedMurphy, Lorna; Pollatsek, Alexander – Annals of Dyslexia, 1994
This study of 65 children (ages 10-13) with dyslexia found no discrete subgroups. Variability in performance on reading tasks was quite similar for the dyslexic and reading age-control groups. A few children with dyslexia resembled phonological dyslexics and surface dyslexics, but these subjects were still part of a continuum. (Author/JDD)
Descriptors: Classification, Dyslexia, Educational Diagnosis, Individual Differences
Peer reviewedCaryl, P. G. – Intelligence, 1994
Vertex event-related potentials (ERPs) were obtained from undergraduates performing an inspection time task together with measures of inspection time (n=35) and mental ability (n=28). Techniques that reveal changes over time in the relationship between ERP measures and psychometric indices were presented. (SLD)
Descriptors: Correlation, Higher Education, Individual Differences, Inspection
Peer reviewedGanderton, Paul S. – Educational Management and Administration, 1991
Subversives have often been considered both peripheral and antithetical to organizations. Management theories have sought to marginalize or neutralize such persons. By so doing, theorists and practitioners alike weaken their organizational insight and ignore subversives' potential value. Managers should help nonconformists make environmental…

(LLL)

Three hearing aid manufacturers provided custom full-shell in-the-ear hearing aids designed for maximum acoustic gain for each of three hearing-impaired adults.
