Hawkins, Harold L.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
The separate effects of stimulus and response relative frequency were studied in two choice reaction time tasks containing many: 1 stimulus-response (S-R) mappings and 2 levels of S-R compatability. (Editor)
Descriptors: Experimental Psychology, Interaction, Psychological Studies, Reaction Time
Mohs, Richard C.; Atkinson, Richard C. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1974
The present experiment was designed to investigate recognition memory processes in a task in which the items to be recognized were stored in long-term memory (LTM), in short-term memory (STM), or in both memory stores. (Author/RK)
Descriptors: College Students, Experimental Psychology, Memory, Reaction Time
Amundson, Vickie E.; Bernstein, Ira H. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
Authors note that Fehrer and Biederman's two statistical tests were not of equal power and that their conclusion could be a statistical artifact of both the lesser power of the verbal report comparison and the insensitivity of their particular verbal report indicator. (Editor)
Descriptors: Behavioral Science Research, Experimental Psychology, Methods Research, Reaction Time
Peer reviewedCantor, Gordon N. – Child Development, 1972
Paper reports some definite differences in response latencies that clearly seem to reflect the existence of racial awareness in the white, second-grade children who served as Ss. (Author)
Descriptors: Childhood Attitudes, Conflict, Data Analysis, Grade 2
Peer reviewedKemp, Bryan J. – Developmental Psychology, 1973
The major hypothesis of the study was not supported by the data. Brief exposure to perceptual deprivation did not facilitate reaction times in either the younger or older group. (Author)
Descriptors: Age Groups, Auditory Stimuli, Data Analysis, Older Adults
Peer reviewedDiCaprio, Nicholas S.; Perample, Thomas C. – Journal of Genetic Psychology, 1973
Two techniques of anxiety reduction are studied singly and in combination: rapid repetition of words and paired-associate learning. Paired-associate learning with Counteracting Response Associates yielded the best long-term reduction in response anxiety, which suggests the potential application of this technique in therapy. (Authors/CB)
Descriptors: Anxiety, Associative Learning, Data Analysis, Paired Associate Learning
Johnston, William A.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1972
Study to determine whether learning is a phenomenon of input processing, output processing, or both. (Author/DS)
Descriptors: Cognitive Processes, Learning, Reaction Time, Recall (Psychology)

Murdock, Bennet B., Jr.; Dufty, Philip O. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1972
Investigated were the relationships among confidence judgments, latencies, and memory-trace strength." (Authors/MB)
Descriptors: Error Patterns, Learning Theories, Memory, Performance Factors
Peer reviewedWerden, Deborah; Ross, Leonard E. – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1972
Data indicate that the developmental level of an individual is a significant factor in trace conditioning performance. (Authors)
Descriptors: Classical Conditioning, Comparative Analysis, Developmental Psychology, Preschool Children
Peer reviewedRidberg, Eugene H.; And Others – Developmental Psychology, 1971
Cognitive style was modified in a sample of 50 impulsive and 50 reflective fourth-grade boys. Subjects viewed a film-mediated model displaying a response style opposite to their own cognitive style. The specific cues in the model's behavior which facilitated shifts in cognitive style varied with the intellectual levels of the subject. (Author/WY)
Descriptors: Cognitive Processes, Cognitive Style, Films, Grade 4
Peer reviewedCohen, Leslie B. – Child Development, 1972
Results support the contention that infant attention should be divided into separate attention-getting and attention-holding processes. (Author)
Descriptors: Attention, Attention Span, Eye Fixations, Infants

Peer reviewedBottle, Robert R.; Emery, Betty L. – Special Libraries, 1971
Some 80 percent of controlled circulation journals provide Reader Service Cards. The responses obtained with those from a sample of ten journals is reported and the data are analyzed in terms of yield, postal and other delays. Response times approximated a normal distribution with an overall mean of 5.8 weeks. (2 references) (Author/NH)
Descriptors: Chemical Industry, Equipment, Information Dissemination, Information Seeking
Peer reviewedGordon, Donald A.; Baumeister, Alfred A. – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1971
The focus of the study was on the paired-associate performance of retarded subjects of different levels of mental age under various instructional conditions. (WY)
Descriptors: Learning Processes, Mediation Theory, Mental Retardation, Paired Associate Learning
