Peer reviewedNaglieri, Jack A.; Maxwell, Susanna – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1981
Inter-rater reliability of the Goodenough-Harris and McCarthy Draw-A-Child scoring systems was examined for a sample of 60 children, including 20 school-labeled learning disabled, 20 mentally retarded, and 20 normal children between the ages of six and eight-and-one-half years. (Author)

Peer reviewedStock, William A,; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1980
MAT and GRE scores were equated by regression, conditional mean, linear and equipercentile methods using data from a sample that had taken both tests. The regression and linear methods were preferred, and shown to be equivalent when the correlation between scales is perfect. (Author/RL)
Descriptors: Comparative Analysis, Correlation, Equated Scores, Graduate Students
Peer reviewedHogan, Joyce C. – Journal of Research in Personality, 1978
This study reports on the personality correlates of rated leadership in 50 college football players using the California Psychological Inventory (CPI) and Gough's leadership regression equation. Consistent with past research, leaders were characterized by high scores on CPI Scales for dominance, self-acceptance, and responsibility. (Author/SJL)

Peer reviewedRushton, J. Phillippe; Littlefield, Christine – Journal of Moral Education, 1979
This study of 68 girls in a sports-with-prizes treatment indicated that children can be induced to behave generously, even after a lapse of time, in proportion to the amount of modeled generous behavior they see. Older children and children experiencing success were more generous. (SJL)
Descriptors: Age Differences, Altruism, Behavioral Science Research, Children
Peer reviewedSobell, Linda C.; Sobell, Mark B. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1978
Examined whether population type and question type differentially affected validity of alcoholics' self-reports. Alcoholics gave highly valid self-reports. Question type differentially affected the validity of subjects' interview answers, as fewer invalid answers were given to demographic questions. Population type did not significantly affect…

Peer reviewedRoe, John E.; Edwards, Keith J. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1978
Group therapy sessions were rated using four Hill interaction matrix variables and Truax-Carkhuff variables of empathy, immediacy, self-exploration, and confrontation. Canonical correlation analysis suggested the two systems converged along a dimension labeled initiating skills. Hill's system showed that immediacy, conceptualized by Traux and…

Peer reviewedO'Grady, Kevin E.; Janda, Louis H. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1978
Undergraduate psychology students were administered the Mosher Forced Choice Guilt Inventory (MFCGI). Inspection of correlations and principal component solutions for each sex indicated that guilt emerges as a construct separate from anxiety or authoritarianism. The applicability of the male form of the MFCGI for use with females is discussed.…

Peer reviewedBradley, Robert H. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1981
A longitudinal investigation was made of the relationship between home-environment processes when children are between 3 and 5 years of age, and children's classroom behavior in the primary grades. Comprehension showed the largest number of significant relationships with early environment variables. (Author/GK)
Descriptors: Correlation, Family Environment, Longitudinal Studies, Maturity (Individuals)
Peer reviewedYule, W.; And Others – British Journal of Educational Psychology, 1981
As part of a longitudinal study, a randomly selected group of 82 British adolescents were tested on both WISC-R and academic attainments. This paper reports the relationships between WISC-R and attainment and results on the CSE and ECE examinations. (Author/SJL)
Descriptors: Academic Achievement, Correlation, Intelligence Tests, National Competency Tests
Peer reviewedBelsky, Jay; And Others – Child Development, 1980
The influence of maternal stimulation on infant exploratory behavior was examined in both a cross-sectional/ correlational study and an experimental study, in order to overcome the limitations on making causal claims that attend most research into maternal influence on infant development. (Author/DB)

Peer reviewedMcCarron, Lawrence; Horn, Paul W. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1979
The Haptic Visual Discrimination Test of tactual-visual information processing was administered to 39 first-graders, along with standard intelligence, academic potential, and spatial integration tests. One hundred graduate students completed the Zuckerman-Allison Fear of Success Scale and indicated the number of competitive team sports in which they participated in grades 7 through 12. Results did not support the prediction that fear of success should be inversely related to early participation in team sports. (Author/SJL)
