The design of competency-based training in behavioral consultation involves the specifications of objectives, training procedures and evaluation techniques. Ninety-two undergraduates were administered three questionnaires on parental conflict and dominance in late adolescent maladjustment. Results indicated that more neurotic daughters come from high conflict families with dominant fathers, while more neurotic sons come from high conflict families with dominant mothers. (Author/CL)

The characteristics of a group of 17 mentally retarded institutionalized individuals (ages 6 to 51) with self-injurious behavior (SIB) were compared with those of 14 patients without SIB. Among findings were that 65 percent of the SIB group were females, that the SIB group had an elevated pulse rate, and that they slept less. (PHR)

The behavior, self-esteem, and attitude toward clefting of 94 adolescents being treated at a clinic for oral-facial anomalies and communicative disorders were examined. Younger teenagers were more aggressive, more active, and had more somatic complaints than did the older teenagers. (SBH)

An examination of personality development points the way toward prevention strategies which respond to social and emotional needs of young alcohol abusers. In England and Wales, females are more prone to commit suicide than homicide. Homicidal offenders are more likely to victimize members of their own families and decidedly more prone to kill themselves.
