Strauss, Helen; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1981
For 71 Israeli first graders, a significant correlation was obtained between creativity and decrease in repression. The various subtests and the four dimensions of creativity were separately analyzed in relation to anxiety and repression. No relation was found between intelligence and the dynamic variables of anxiety and repression. (Author/SJL)

The percentage of variance in achievement accounted for by IQ greatly decreased as the subgroups became more removed from the mean IQ for the sample. Results suggest that definition and placement decisions based on IQ be reconsidered for populations whose mean IQ is substantially above or below the average IQ. (DB)

Reviews contingency and universalistic theoretical rationales linking satisfaction and conflict to organic and mechanistic styles of structure and control. Results suggest that some people ascribe traits more often and indicate "depends on the situation" less often than do others. Personality correlates of this tendency indicate that it is associated with poor psychological adjustment and an extreme response style. (Author)

Results indicated that for female stimuli, attractiveness correlated negatively with waist width and hip width, and directly with figure slenderness. For male stimuli, attractiveness correlated positively with shoulder width and upper body taper. (Author)

Scores of 149 third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade pupils, on a reading attitude inventory correlated .17 with combined reading scores on the Metropolitan Achievement Tests. The present study compared six methods, two of which utilize the content structure of items, to estimate total-test scores using 450 students and 60 items of the 110-item Stanford Mental Arithmetic Test. Three methods yielded fairly good estimates of the total-test score. (Author/RL)

Thirty-three white, upper-class adolescents and their mothers completed questionnaires containing modified forms of several Bronfenbrenner and Schaefer parental behavior scales.
